My name is Amanda and I’m a 22-year-old womanchild living in Athens, Georgia.
I was born in Atlanta and raised in Marietta, GA, Atlanta’s largest (and least interesting) suburb. I went to Lassiter High School and was a nationally-ranked debater (and captain of the team, because my awesomeness knows no bounds), a mediocre violist, and decently good at walking in high heels.
I moved to Athens in the fall of 2004 to attend the University of Georgia and graduated in May 2008 with a degree in Magazine Journalism, which will never, ever, ever get me a job in my desired field. But I knew that going in, so I’m complicit in my poverty.
I do have a job, though. In fact, I have two. I work in the marketing department at a large resort and spa outside of Atlanta and also, I work one day a week at Best Buy. The real job is a new development, Best Buy is someplace I’ve worked for 3 years. They were very good to me throughout college, and have graciously allowed me to stay quasi-employed in order to retain my sweet, beautiful employee discount. And I just can’t give up that snappy uniform they’ve got me wearing.
I’m single and happy to be so; relationships have been bad to me, just like they’ve been bad to everyone else. That does not stop my grandmother from asking me when I’m getting married every time I see her, though, but somehow I manage to not punch her in the face.

Hey Amanda, I saw your link after reading a comment you left on Jezebel (about debate). I too am a former debater from Atlanta (Parkview ‘99), so I thought I’d drop a line and say hello.
Cheers,
